About Idlewell Press

A quiet page can
hold a lot.

Idlewell Press makes small books for unhurried moments—simple, thoughtfully designed objects for when the mind needs something gentle to do.

Our story

Still being written.

Idlewell Press is beginning with one small Sudoku book and a simple standard: make something useful, remove everything that does not need to be there, and choose materials that feel honest in the hand.

This page is a placeholder for the fuller story still to come—the people behind the press, why these books matter to us, and what we learn as the first copies find their way into the world.

The mission

A book for you.
A book for someone
in the hospital.

Hospital stays can be frightening, exhausting, and lonely—for patients and for the people who love them.

For every book sold, Idlewell Press donates one to a hospital, free for a patient in bed or a loved one beside them.

A small book cannot change what they are facing. It can offer something gentle to hold and focus on.

What guides us

Three simple ideas.

  1. 01

    Make it useful.

A clear puzzle, a comfortable page, and nothing competing for attention.

  2. 02

    Make it thoughtfully.

Natural materials, restrained typography, and details that reward being held.

  3. 03

    Let every copy do more.

Each purchase creates a second book intended for a patient or family in a hospital.

The first edition

It starts with Sudoku No. 01.
